🧘‍♂️5 Simple Yoga Poses You Can Do with Your Child at Home

You don’t need to be a yoga expert—or even particularly flexible—to practice yoga with your child. In fact, the best family yoga sessions are filled with giggles, wobbly poses, and plenty of fun. Here are five simple poses to try together:

1. Sleeping Bear (Child’s Pose)

Kneel on the floor, sit back on your heels, and stretch your arms forward. Rest your forehead on the ground. Take slow, deep breaths—like a bear hibernating.

2. Stretching Giraffe (Upward Stretch)

Stand tall, reach both arms to the sky, and stretch as if trying to nibble leaves from the tallest tree. Wiggle your fingers and rise onto your tiptoes.

3. Downward Dog (Silly Puppy Pose)

Hands and feet on the ground, hips in the air—like an upside-down “V.” You can wag your “tail” or bark softly to make it playful.

4. Butterfly Wings (Seated Butterfly Pose)

Sit with the soles of your feet touching. Hold your feet and gently flap your knees like butterfly wings. Add a little story: “Where will we fly today?”

5. Star Pose (Wide-Legged Stretch)

Stand with legs wide apart and arms stretched out like a star. Take a deep breath in, feeling big and bright, then relax as you exhale.

Pro Tip: Don’t worry about perfect form. The goal is to move, connect, and have fun together.
